When my father visited the set of the #Girls pilot, he teared up...not because it was so fancy, but because it just made him happy that Jem and I were still making art but now we were shutting down a SoHo street (legally!) We facetimed recently, Jem in her studio in Brooklyn, preparing for a show of new paintings and me in London, preparing to make my first film since we did that one in my bedroom a decade ago - kicking ideas around, talking shit and making each other go “oh my God!” We both said we felt lucky that through it all, we still get the luxury and the privilege of making art together. “We should really celebrate that more,” she said.
