A monumental 17th century oil painting by Jacques Carrey documenting the arrival in Jerusalem of the Marquis of Nointel, Louis XIV’s ambassador to the Middle East, was discovered during the store renovations - as was the magnificent coffered ceiling decorated with fanciful French heraldic signs. The painting and the ceiling were meticulously restored by a team of experts from Nouvelle Tendence. Marcel Breuer chairs and mid-century Italian tables were added as a modern counterpoint to the ancient decoration.
