In our final look back at the @LOEWEfoundation 'Chance Encounters' exhibition series presented as part of Art Basel Miami Beach, we explore how works by Andrea Büttner, Ian Godfrey and Anne Low were presented together in 2018.

The exhibition brought together over 100 intricately crafted ceramic sculptures by Ian Godfrey (1942-1992). Taught by both Lucie Rie and Hans Coper, Godfrey worked with hand-carved clay over the traditional hand-built or wheel-thrown vessel form.

Turner Prize-nominated German artist Andrea Büttner presented a series of large-scale woodcut prints depicting motifs that reoccur throughout her work. Büttner is interested in the woodcut technique for the way it brings together the handcrafted with mass-production; here, her work was realised at a monumental scale.

For the 18th century granary permanently occupying the space, the LOEWE Foundation commissioned a new installation by artist Anne Low which responded directly to its architectural characteristics.
