We had a performance in Addis and before the show I went rogue and hopped in a cab to go visit the nearest orphanage. I remember parts of this orphanage didn’t even have a roof. The building was in pieces. When I walked in, the kids were having lunch. What I remember the most from this experience was that after the meal they all sang a song in prayer of gratitude for that meal. I stayed and washed the dishes for them after. Truly one of the happiest moments of my life. I remember our security guard giving me hell about leaving when I got back lol. 12 years later I returned to Ethiopia with the UN @refugees agency to the Melkadida camp... posting it soon.
