Let’s take a trip down memory lane.
One year ago Tuesday marked the near-term top of the market before a hefty December drop. The S&P 500 declined 16% from that early month peak to a post-Christmas bottom. The large-cap index is now up 32% from that low.
But back-to-back declines that started off this month have some investors wary of a repeat of last year – but not one expert.
Todd Gordon, founder of TradingAnalysis.com, says 2019 is nothing like 2018 because “last year we had an October slide, November consolidation into fall through December of 2018 and then we rallied.
He says any further weakness now will act as a buying opportunity rather than any reason for concern.
