“Hollow-stemmed flowers, such as dahlias, amaryllis, and hollyhocks, need their cut stems to be filled with water.
Turn the flowers upside-down and carefully pour water into the hollow center of the stalk, filling it to the brim.
To keep the liquid in, you can plug the stem with a small piece of cotton.”
