From @badassboz : AKWAABA is an important expression in Ghanaian custom because it symbolizes acceptance, friendliness and cooperation.⁣ ⁣ ‘Akwaaba,’ which simply means welcome, in some Akan dialects, has become a symbol for expressing the celebrated Ghanaian hospitality, especially to foreign guests.⁣ ⁣ ALL are welcome to Ghana to honor The Year of Return; marking 400 years since the beginning of the transatlantic slave trade. There is no stranger on these shores, as we look to gather all of Africa’s sons and daughters from the diaspora back home.⁣ ⁣ I’m so honored to play a role in this movement. At the request of the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency @nakufoaddo in 2017, @boriskodjoe, @nicoleariparker and I mobilized 100+ friends to join us in Ghana and the #FullCircleFestival was born in 2018. This year, we’re back in full force and in partnership with @essence @richelieudennis, Michelle Ebanks, @emmetdennis @barkue and Latraviette Smith to truly expand this movement. There are typically around 75,000 visas given to visitors to Ghana... this year, there are more than 750,000! Accra is the place to be!
