How far do you travel around the holidays? This is “Grandma Moses Goes to the Big City" by Anna Mary Robertson Moses, otherwise known as Grandma Moses.
She started painting at age 77, depicting nostalgic scenes of rural life that she sold alongside her prize-winning pickles.
Moses painted more 1,500 pieces. This one is in our @americanart, as well as featured in @smithsonian_books’ “Smithsonian American Women.” You can learn more about the book and other American women who shaped history at womenshistory.si.edu. #BecauseOfHerStory
