@ナショナルジオグラフィック picked 15 of their Best Images of the Decade today. (Up in the @ナショナルジオグラフィック stories now.) This image of @アレックス・オノルド free soloing near the top of El Cap somehow made the cut. I have no idea how they chose the images as there have been countless images I’ve considered sublime or have moved me beyond words over the last ten years. I do not envy the task undertaken by @whitneycatherinejohnson @sadiequarrier and the editing staff at Nat Geo. It’s hard enough to pick a few images from one assignment. All of this is to say I am always (and always will be) humbled to be a part of the National Geographic photography community, many of whom I’ve looked up to my entire career. I have endless respect and admiration for the work they do to tell some of the most important and complex stories of our time, everything from wildlife conservation, conflict and science to images that showcase humanity at its best and its worst. I count myself lucky to consider them as my peer group and friends. They commit their lives to creating these images w heart, empathy and respect to show the world new perspectives and to promote positive change. Cheers to all the photographers in the National Geographic family and to their commitment to excellence.
