I don’t know about you but it was all of those things for me. In this decade I met my husband who grounded me with love, support and laughter. I met my brilliant step children and welcomed Rex and Honey in to the world. Four kids who have taught me every lesson possible and made my heart swell with love. The most beautiful highs. I’ve also experienced the lowest, pitch black lows and have felt heavy with fear, loneliness and self loathing that I thought I might not recover from. Yet I must be grateful that out of that darkness came this book. A book I didn’t know I was capable of writing and one that has travelled the world and connected me with bright, beautiful souls and opened up a whole new career for me. One where I’m not waiting to be told I’m good enough to do a job, pretty enough, cool enough, young enough, old enough. Now I just create what I want and revel in that autonomy. The podcast, the festivals, the design work, the charity work; none of which would have been possible without this book. Thank you to @jo_elvin for asking me to write a column for Glamour magazine back in the day which sparked this idea and thank you to Amanda Harris, my then publisher now literary agent, for encouraging me to bring it to life. Thanks to you lot for reading it, supporting my work and for continuing this much needed conversation around mental health and essentially life. Complex, confusing, beautiful life. Love and happiness to you all for a brand new decade.」12月31日 16時53分 - fearnecotton
