The act of physically writing down your gratitudes, affirmations, and goals in a fresh journal is a powerful exercise for rewiring your brain and perspective. I look forward to this exercise every year. 1. Write out 10 things you’re grateful for - big or small, i.e. “watching @sassytiggy play in her new front yard!” The point of this exercise is to nudge your brain into a space of abundance as you continue the following thought exercises. 2. Write out 10 affirmations for 2020. Affirmations are powerful “truisms” - statements that empower you to shift your thoughts and behaviors toward the highest version of yourself. These statements don’t need to feel true for you today. Just ask yourself - what does the most abundant version of my future self believe about myself? Perhaps you want to shift your focus away from fixating on worst-case outcome scenarios (something I used to struggle with a lot!) A new affirmation might be “I accept and welcome change, however it manifests in my life, with love and open arms.” 3. On a new page, write out negative thought patterns about yourself/relationships/work/health/etc….stories you wish to let go of in the new year. Consider where these stories came from. Are they learned patterns from family or friends? How have they affected your habits/actions? Now, on the opposite page, list a set of new stories that represent the polar opposite of what you are leaving behind. It doesn’t matter if these new stories feel untrue; this is an imagination exercise where you get to try on new stories for size. 4. Read everything except the old stories aloud every morning and night for 2 weeks. Notice how your body feels as you read each one. Where do you feel the most tension or emotional charge? Highlight these statements for additional reinforcement. You’ll be amazed at how quickly your body and mind evolve to respond differently to these new stories. . . . If you want extra accountability, have your friends/family join in the exercise. What’s a new story you’re calling in for 2020?」1月2日 5時15分 - tarynsouthern

Hello 2020!

Perhaps you want to shift your focus away from fixating on worst-case outcome scenarios (something I used to struggle with a lot!) A new affirmation might be “I accept and welcome change, however it manifests in my life, with love and open arms.”
You’ll be amazed at how quickly your body and mind evolve to respond differently to these new stories. .

If you want extra accountability, have your friends/family join in the exercise. What’s a new story you’re calling in for 2020?
