I remember saying to Melissa, “it’s like they know what pitch is coming” because the Astros were hitting everything. I didn’t actually think they were cheating, but it was like watching two different ball clubs when they were home and away. Altuve (who won the MVP over my man @thejudge44 that year) crushed an astounding .533 at home in that series, including the two-run walk-off homer that took the Astros to the World Series, and went HITLESS in the three games in NY. I won’t go as far as to say that they Yankees would have won the World Series in ’17, but they sure as hell would have had a shot. And that Dodgers/Yanks series would have been incredible. Cheating robs the game of so much more than championships. It takes away the integrity. I learned a lot about life through baseball, and the sport continues to be my go-to metaphor for life lessons. I think @mlb should strip the Astros of their 2017 World Series title. A fine doesn’t take away their win. A slap on the wrist doesn’t change the books. By letting it stand as is, you’re rewarding cheating, and you’ll encourage other teams to try the same. You’re basically saying: you still get the ring, even if you cheat.
