Wakato Bridge (Wakato Ohashi) is a 627-meter-long suspension bridge connecting the Tobata and Wakamatsu wards of Kita-Kyushu City. Since its opening in 1962, the bridge has long been a symbol of the areas. Just beneath the bridge lies the Wakamatsu Minami Kaigan-dori, which is home to retro western buildings constructed during the Taisho Period (1912-1926).
To take the most photogenic photos, visit between sunset and 10 p.m. while the bridge is lit-up red by 162 LED lights. Our recommendation is to take the Pon-pon boats which cruises the Dokai Bay. The boats depart every 15 minutes and over 500,000 tourists are mesmerized by the magical night view each year. ©Fukuoka Prefecture Tourist Association
