Photos by Randy Olson | @randyolson | A recent story about the Australia fires on NBC News stated: "Intense and voracious fires are interacting with the atmosphere and creating their own weather, including lightning, which can cause new wildfires.” There are some years where healing monsoonal rains do not come, but they happen often enough that @ナショナルジオグラフィック sent me there to photograph them based on data from the previous years. In 2004, when this photo was taken, the normal climate pattern prevailed. #australia #fires #monsoon
