#24for24 - Eighteen-Year-Old Rookie Kobe Bryant electrified the 1997 NBA Slam Dunk Contest on the heels of his 31-point performance in the Rookie Challenge earlier in the day. The Dunk Contest was packed with basketball greats and celebrities on hand including Kobe’s good friend and former prom date, Brandy. Kobe narrowly advanced to the final round of the contest by just one point. Kobe was the first to go for the final round scoring 49 points of 50 that was impossible for the others to catch. Kobe Bryant became the youngest player to win the NBA Slam Dunk Contest.
