Plenty of tourists fill the gilded halls and gardens on any given day. A couple of years ago, I visited the palace with Samantha Lawton, a friend of mine who is an accomplished dancer. Toward the end of the day, the palace was unusually empty as the golden light of sunset poured in through the windows. We asked the guard if it would be okay for Sam to dance through the space.
