I keep on seeing all of these Vancouver 2010 Olympic posts everywhere. Vancouver was my first Olympic team I was going for, and it was my first miss. My entire career I just KNEW I was going to the Olympics, and then I just didn’t. I will never forget sitting at home, watching opening ceremonies and just thinking “well this sucks.” This moment was such a turning point in my career though, it made me realize things don’t just happen because they are meant to be, they are meant to be because you make them happen. I was always talented but I wasn’t the hardest worker. I didn’t know what it was like to train so hard it hurts. I didn’t put everything on the line, I played it safe and it didn’t work. Sitting at home, watching my peers accomplish something so cool and exciting without me, that made me realize it was my destiny to decide, and I was going to work a lot harder to get what I wanted. Also was I kept off the team because of my over the boot tights? I’m not going to rule that out 😉 Also enjoy this pic of baby Ash getting strangled by a US flag like it’s a Hogwarts scarf.
