A thoughtful mélange of contemporary and traditional accents fill a vast Georgian-style mansion designed by @pvmlondon of @nicholashaslamltd. “My mouth was just wide open when I saw it,” designer Philip Vergeylen says of the 25,000-square-foot property that belongs to a couple with four children. “It was complicated and enormous.” But the magnitude of the project didn't hold Vergeylen back, and the highly ornamented dining area is proof. The room's gold and green palette is informed by the salon Hubert de Givenchy fashioned at his 1731 hôtel particulier in the 7th arrondissement. Along with commissioning a massive gilded-bronze cupola to allow for more light, Vergeylen enhanced the look with a silk rug, of his design, that bears a border with dragons—an homage to the wife’s childhood years spent in Asia. The table, hand-carved gilded chairs, and crystal-and-bronze chandeliers are all custom. The mercury mirror is integrated into wood paneling from Féau & Cie, the sconces are by @bronzesdefrance, and the candelabras are Charles X.
