Photo by @simonnorfolkstudio I Tolbachik is a complex of active volcanoes in Russia's Far East, in the Kamchatka Peninsula. The history of eruptions stretches back millennia, but the most noteworthy eruption in recent times was in 1975. Referred to as the Great Tolbachik Fissure Eruption, it was preceded by a series of earthquakes that helped scientists from the Russian Institute of Volcanology successfully predict the impending eruption.
