It's not lost on me what it has taken for me to exist in the spaces that I do. I don't take it for granted. And I know that it means something, even now. When a mother tells me that when her daughter saw me fully embracing my gravity-defying crown of curls, she went from hating her textured hair to wearing her curl crown with pride...my heart could burst.
