How do you conserve an artwork that exists only online? 💾 That’s a question members of the Guggenheim’s Conserving Computer-Based Art Initiative (CCBA) ask themselves every day. As part of the museum’s conservation department, CCBA works to preserve software and computer-based collection artworks through research, restoration, and treatment.

In 2019, CCBA successfully restored Mark Napier’s “net.flag” (2002), which had fallen into disrepair. Tap through our story for an inside look at how such a restoration unfolds.
