We celebrated baby’s one year old birthday and today we celebrated Girls day, a traditional celebration in Japan for girls.
・
For one year old birthday, traditionally in Japan we celebrate with an Issho Mochi (一升餅). The 1.8kg of rice cake mochi is carried on their 1 years old birthday because 'Issho' also has a meaning of 'whole life'.
・
The meaning behind this is so that they will be happy and healthy their whole life and they will never go hungry.
・
I was quite surprised that our baby was able to carry and walk with this 2kg mochi cake on her back! She did well!
・
And today March 3rd is Girls day in Japan. We celebrate this by displaying traditional Japanese doll.
・
I was so happy that she was able to wear my Jinbei (traditional Japanese summer clothing) which I wore 40 years ago. So thankful that my mother was able to keep it till now.
・
Hope to keep this family tradition going. More behind the scenes on my Story.
