I loved her passion, attention to details and she understood how best to direct every actor to get the best performance. Getting the actors together to develop common ground and memories respectively in our roles was especially helpful in translating genuine connections on screen. The team also believed in details- Herman’s character was into fashion and the team went on to source for the most suitable store for this scene though it was just for one scene. A big thank you to @surrenderstore for allowing us to shoot at your very cool place:) . Loved the rehearsals tog with the camera team too and we focused on naturally going through the set and rehearsing while the director observed and guided the whole delivery. This way, minimal shots were done when we started shooting. In this scene, quite a no of shots were actually done in 1 take; this helps to conserve everyone’s energy and a school of thought is that the first/first few takes are normally the most natural performance cos there is no anticipation. We were also bouncing ideas off one another- if you notice, the jacket that I bought for Herman in this scene was worn in the next scene. It wasn’t planned but I think as we were going through the script, I jokingly suggested that, cos some of us will change immediately to the new clothes tt we buy and it brings a real touch to the scene. The director liked the idea so we spontaneously asked the shop if we could loan it and they generously agreed (Thanks Surrender!) . @iamhermankeh last line (this one too!) was also ad-libbed while going through lines. The director liked it and it ended up in the scene as well. I guess when everyone is relaxed, creativity flows?
