Keeping ourselves busy over here and prepping for homeschooling for who knows how long 😳. Also, Micah fully beat Daddy at Chess. 😳😳 I know people are feeling stressed. I’m super stressed. I was about to go to the store last night and froze at the door so Peter went for me. I’ve been to the grocery store so many times this week and every time I see an empty shelf, panic sets in. I lose my connection to rational thought. Panic is so contagious. I see someone frantically grabbing TP and all of a sudden I NEED TP. I want to be smart and I want to be prepared, but I also don’t want to let panic and fear win. So, after shopping a bunch last week and stocking up as best as I could, yesterday, I played with my kids. We couldn’t go to a playground or a birthday party or a play date, so we splashed in puddles. I felt the sensation of my boots moving through the water. I examined the color of the leaves on the ground. I felt the rain on my skin. And I held my people close. As we cooked our meals, I took extra notice of how lucky we are to have fresh vegetables. In a season where I can so often get lost in feelings of scarcity, I looked around at my family and our full bellies and all I felt was abundance. And then I got anxious again. I think the next several weeks will feel a lot Like this: gratitude, then fear, then gratitude again. And my family is so much better off than many. We don’t have to go to work right now to keep food on the table. We have the luxury to stay home with our kids and weather this storm. Praying for all of the people around the world in much more desperate circumstances than us. Praying that all of this draws us closer, not farther apart. I’ve set up a few #googleduo gatherings with friends this week so I don’t lose connection to my community. We are gonna make drinks and hang.
