A long time supporter wrote the comment in this screenshot. Here's our response to them. 📝 "Dear ____ , we know you have been a loyal follower and supporter but lately you seem to not be understanding the connection between things like this. So we will educate you about the facts. After you read this, please let us know if you still don't think that declawing vets are contributing to this COVID-19 crisis instead of helping to end it. They are putting profits over the health of humans now. Fact- Declawing is not an essential or an emergency surgery. As another supporter said, medical doctors and dentists are all putting elective procedures on hold. Declawing vets are using the much needed PPE masks, gloves, and gowns for this inhumane and mutilating amputation procedure, and are leaving hospital workers with short supplies and increasing the risk of exposure to COVID-19 and death. Veterinarians have been asked by he @avmavets & most of their state vet assoc., healthcare orgs, and state officials to cease all routine surgeries & services so that: 1) They conserve PPE. Better yet, donate what they have. 2) Conserve o2 tanks so that hospitals get enough. 3) Limit the need for all employees to be at work. 4) Keep the public at home. 5) Part of the veterinary oath is to protect the health of the public. Veterinarians should encourage their clients to stay home and only bring their pets in for emergencies. It’s not time for business as usual. Everyone needs to help to flatten the curve and stop the spread of COVID-19 to save human lives and lessen the burden on healthcare professionals and their hospitals."
