Rich McCorさんのインスタグラム写真 - (Rich McCorInstagram)「A much needed light in the darkness.⁣ ⁣ If you don't know the story about Captain Tom Moore, the plan was for the 99 year old to gradually walk 100 laps of his garden to raise £1,000 for charity. However, it didn't quite play out like that- in less than a day he raised £70,000 so he upped his target to £1m but not long after that, as the country learnt about his efforts, he hit £4m.⁣ ⁣ The country rallied behind him and this morning he completed his 100th lap in his garden, surrounded by the 1st Battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment. As he did so he raised over £15m for NHS Charities Together and also gave the country a reason to smile. ⁣ ⁣ He's the embodiment of all the individuals who have helped during this pandemic- the 750,000 who responded to the NHS' call for help, the tireless healthcare workers and everyone else who has played their part (and also special mention to the woman stacking shelves in Sainsbury's who smiled to me because I think she knew her face was one of the few real, live faces I'd seen in a while.
