They’ve had to lay off their entire staff and shudder #pipsoriginaldoughnuts for the time being BUT they have used their talent, ingenuity, and love for community to create a new business with their Chai (I kid you not, the most amazing chai and chai flavors I have ever tasted!) . Do yourself a favor, support local businesses and check out their new business @communitychai !!!! #chaimazing #wishiwasinpdxgimmesome Here’s their wonderful story: No strangers to the challenges of small business ownership, married co-owners Nate and Jamie Snell of were forced to lay off the entire Pip’s Original staff on March 16th when the governor of Oregon mandated no gatherings over 25 people. Coincidently this was the same day they sent out paychecks to their crew. Left with a depleted bank account, no staff, no customers and facing uncertain times, Nate and Jamie immediately placed their business on war footing and went into crisis management mode. After several late night brainstorming sessions they landed on a concept that just might save their entire company or at least pay the bills long enough to open the doors again: Community Chai was born. Armed with a few hundred glass bottles sold to them courtesy of the fine folks at Portland Juice Co they began brewing ultra-concentrated versions of their five flavors of hand-crafted, small-batch chai.
