I lived in Santa Monica, close to the broadcast emanating from their basement studio. They were my invisible friend, keeping me company during my solitary pursuits. Now, after all these years, I'm honored to have finally made some art for my friend. A departure from my usual figurative work, these symbols are the hieroglyphics of my subconscious. Based off a grid, I start filling in the squares with ink without any planning, drawing the symbols one by one and reacting spontaneously to each previous mark. It’s an exercise in proportions, pattern, and persistence.
