I remember not knowing what to expect going into it; for one- what the shoot was even for.. & two- what this renowned artist would be like to meet & pose for. I arrive to the Tribeca loft & it’s all the top supermodels at the peak of our careers representing big brands like @victoriassecret & @si_swimsuit . It was somewhat chaotic with models strewn about, production, a #giantpolaroid & there was Peter; big warm smile, calm, cool, but still with a vibrant energy that stood out in the chaos. In typical model protocol we go into hair/make up, strip down to under garments, get slathered with baby oil, & then sit around & wait. Peter would come & hand pick us for each improvised shot & vision. There were Brazilians, Russians, Europeans.. & me! This was typically what it was like for the extent of my career- being the only Polynesian/Asian, or even American in some instances. It’s pretty eye opening to see how only more recently the industry & the world became more inclusive. All in all, memories like these bring it all back, & I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Modeling was so much more fun back then! It was organic, raw, real, punk! Tangible & shot on film, on giant Polaroids, then painted over, collaged, mixed with African scenery & wild animals. Icons like Peter were the driving force & are now such a rarity. Thanks @izakr for this video keepsake of a fun #BTS moment frozen in time. My condolences to Peter’s loved ones.
