Hey guys - Hope you're enjoying this revisiting of my masterclasses... This is another classic that I get asked about a lot. This class goes over the fundamentals of using the side of your left hand to keep a bass pulse going while opening up your fingers to hitting and plucking strings. It's an awesome technique that's been used by many people, and it's a simple trick to add so much to your solo guitar sound. "Skimming..." seems to be the perfect song to illustrate this technique because it's nice and slow, but you can use this technique at any tempo and I'll play some faster examples of that.
I also created tabs and notation for most of the exercises that I went over in the video, with the time code where each exercise begins in the left margin, just in case you want to skip to that particular point.  Notation + tab is a great way to be able to look at an exercise beat by beat, so please take it as slow as you need to.  I WILL POST THESE IN A SEPARATE POST FOLLOWING THIS. *** As always, if you're up for sharing what you're working on, please post your own video of yourself playing an excerpt from the song or another song using this technique and tag @カーキ・キング along with the hashtag #KakiMasterclass.
