This is a song I wrote while pregnant with my first daughter — in awe of the complete mystery and transformation I was about to experience. I had never thought about parenting and what kind of mother I wanted to be— so I contemplated my own mother, her mother and memorable parents I had come across, and the balance between the urges to want to protect but not limit my child. I feel that ultimately what you can give is unconditional love. Once you have felt that (I feel blessed that my parents were able to give that to me) you have a foundation set for life.
