Some of our IG friends already know his backstory, if not most of you, but it’s always worth repeating for all of our new friends. Monk came to me as a starving, bug infested kitten. He was filthy, weak and had severe double eye infections. At that time I was drowning in grief after losing my dad to cancer, a close friend in a plane crash and was undergoing numerous back procedures after a car wreck that left me with a fractured sacrum, herniations and nerve damage. I was also battling severe, and at times completely debilitating, depression. A true “who rescued who” story. I cleaned him up, took him to the vet, showered him with love and ensured his belly was always fed. To show his gratitude he allowed me to cry into his fur and talk to him about all my deepest sorrows. I could easily write a book about how Monk (& Bean) have literally saved my life. I’ve said it before and I’ll keep repeating it ... NOTHING heals a broken heart like the unconditional love of an animal! When I look back on my 42 years on this Earth some of my greatest blessings have been these two angels in cat form. #blackcatsaregoodluck 🖤🖤 . . Side Note: I’m constantly asked about Monk’s fangs. As you can see here he didn’t have them as a baby. They didn’t grow in until he was about 1yr old. I’m also frequently asked why I didn’t name him something like Vlad or Vamp... I had no way of knowing that this tiny, sickly babe would grow up to be the vampire cat you see before you, but truth be told his name, Monkey (Monk for short) is as appropriate as can be. He is insanely energetic, mischievous, curious, silly, naughty and he gets into and swings from EVERYTHING. Just like a 🐒 . .
