Lots more to unpack but what educator, Jane Elliott is questioning is if we know that there are injustices happening to our fellow black neighbors (this doesn’t apply to just white folks) and we stand by silently letting it happen, what does that say about you? Or us?

Some may see a flagrant act from a group from one race and use those examples to justify the injustices that happen to them. To that I say...do some fucking research and expand your circle. You might have to search a bit but most are a couple of clicks away to educate yourself on the history of racism that has plagued America since the birth of it. It’s undeniable. Every culture, human constructed race that we have been programmed to lump into “groups” has “bad apples” and we must call all of them out for the sake of the human race. But at the end of the day all humans are capable of anything if given the tools. Good or bad. Cops have to vehemently call out their “bad apples” which is not happening and that is part of why we are seeing hurt, pain, frustration turn into anger. It’s only natural. But we have to first look at our own biases to truly understand the actions of our words and the message that that sends to those who have been continually oppressed in the flight to be ruled over to be in the seat of superiority. We all have to do better. IN NO WAY am I condoning for people to loot or riot. But to try to continually shift perspectives so YOU can come to your own educated conclusion. There is no unbiased media anymore. It’s up to you to do the work to be a better human. Nothing good has ever come out of an uneducated, rash conclusion. Talk to friends (not through social media) honestly about race because saying that you don’t see color when you see people is part of the problem. We are all of different shades and the first step is to learn to see it, to understand it and then to accept it. One love.
