happy pride month angels 🌈 it’s extremely important that we recognize the black activists who pioneered the lgbtq rights movement. for those of you who don’t know, this is Marsha P Johnson. she advocated for lgbtq rights her entire life and was one of the early spearheads of the gay liberation movements. she was a crucial figure at the Stonewall riots, an Aids activist and the founder of STAR, an organization which advocated for the rights of young trans people. Marsha P Johnson was a crucial figure in the gay rights movement. Her actions and words were extremely progressive and important and have actively helped progress equal rights and safe spaces for the lgbtq+ community. Throughout June, I suggest learning as much about her as you can. Watch documentaries, look at her photos, read articles, listen to her speak. Educate your friends and other members of the community around you. Use this pride month to really learn the history. And keep on learning as the years continue. 💗
