George Floyd was the tipping point, but this problem has been staring us in the face already this year multiple times. George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor. Each of these murders feels as senseless and outrageous as the one before or after it. I hope we remember all their names, AND I pray that it actually leads to effective systemic change. School shootings & mass shootings have been a stain on our society my entire life, & yet we do nothing as a country.. we get mad and protest for a week, and then we go back to living, with nothing changed. Racism has been a stain on our society my entire life, and yet we’ve done nothing. It’s time to DO SOMETHING. It starts with protests and outrage, but those protests have to lead to the voting booth, and those votes have to elect local & state officials that will ACTUALLY form new laws and protocols- **LOCAL politicians impact the criminal justice system more than federal. With all the chaos & anger spreading nationwide, we have to make it worth it. We can’t handle this like we handle school shootings and mass murder.
