Particularly I have never been more proud than to see the incredible response from my fellow brothers and sisters, colleagues and citizens in Japan. Still though, I am skeptical. While my heart is warmed by the love. I’m not convinced the world is yet committed to the full cause. This is an exhausting battle it takes strong resolve to see it through. Much is said about cancel culture and the power of the internet. Do not downplay your greatest weapon for change. Look at the power you have displayed. Your unity, your power in numbers has forced countless individuals and companies who would run from this fight 6 years ago to turn around and display their alliance to the cause. The roar of your voices sent fear down the spines of those in power and you have them panicked. Of course they retaliate with violence. They fear your unity and they hope their violence will silence you. Stand together. Support each other and demand change. Look what has come from unity. The #MeToo movement toppled untouchable kings. But it’s not enough. It’s not enough to remove individuals. We must change culture and laws and systems. To do that we must be unified. We must be resilient. We must be determined to see it to the very end. We must make those who hate, terrified to even speak the words. Thank you for standing with us. We must stand with you too in your time of need. If we are forever united, we can overcome any challenges. So don’t stop. Not until all the hungry are fed. Not until those who are locked up in cages are free. Not until those who have been robbed have been repaid. Not until everyone is equal. Not until people are safe to walk the streets. Not until the laws are changed. Not until justice is served.
