There is a clear racism and abuse of power problem in this country and seeing all of these stories on the news for YEARS is saddening. Before you are quick to throw out insignificant statistics, first ask yourself why there is even bias/racial profiling of African Americans in the first place. Ask yourself why African American mothers have to give their children “the talk” on how to act around police. You will never know what it is like to be in someone else’s shoes, so please look deep within and ask yourself why you are so quick to deny others of their experiences and feelings. I stay away from posting about topics such as these considering the distinct polarity of our country’s political climate and argumentative nature of these topics, and always thought that if I spoke out it wouldn’t make a difference. I have recently learned that silence is quite deafening. I support EQUALITY in this country. I do not hate police and respect those that genuinely want to protect the people, but there is a clear issue with racist and power complexed people being a part of the very force meant to protect us. Officer Thao and Chauvin (those involved with Geroge Floyd’s death) both have a history of conduct complaints including: derogatory language, demeaning tone and beating a handcuffed man during arrest.. My question is why do people that act like this not get fired on the spot? How do they obtain these jobs? Reform needs to happen. If you would like to donate to organizations that fight for equality and justice then I would personally recommend donating to the ACLU or NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Please stop asking people to do the research for you. Don’t be lazy. Sign petitions and donate DIRECTLY to organizations that have causes you want to support. I have been struggling for several days trying to find the right words to say. There is a clear racism and abuse of power problem in this country and seeing all of these stories on the news for YEARS is saddening.
