A designer that inspires me greatly: Elizabeth Keckley, Designer to Mary Todd Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln‘s wife. Ms Keckley was a slave for 30 years, bought her way out of slavery by designing & sewing dresses & eventually becoming the First Ladies full-time designer and wardrobe stylist.. can you even imagine what type of person it would take to accomplish all of that in the 1800s by herself..not only as a slave, as a woman, as a black woman. Elizabeth Keckley, a designer, an entrepreneur, an employer, an author, an inspiration ✂️ to learn more, the book she authored, Behind the Scenes or Thirty Years a Slave, & Four Years in the White House (last image of her, I just adore. That is the image of a regal queen that loves her fashion & stands up to years of trials and tribulations that came before her) 👑
