Since, neighbors and witnesses have strongly disputed the police department’s account of his death, saying that the unnamed officer in question did not warn McDade before he began to shoot. McDade’s murder also continues to illuminate the disproportionate rate at which black people and transgender are targets of violent and tragic deaths.
