JUST ANNOUNCED: A major survey of Australia’s leading guitar manufacturer Maton. Bill May founded Maton in 1946, in a small workshop in his garage, and became a pioneer of Australian guitar manufacturing. Maton was the first manufacturer to use Australian wood species in guitars on a large scale, with the models predominately created from Queensland Maple, Bunya and Victorian Blackwood. Now operated by May’s daughter and son-in-law Linda and Neville Kitchen, the company is Australia’s largest manufacturer of guitars producing over 8,000 a year. The exhibition curated by @パワーハウスミュージアム will feature the personal collection of Wadih Hanna and will include some of Australia’s rarest guitars, instruments and amplifiers used by legendary Australian musicians.
