Due to the pandemic, these heroic internal medicine residents were deployed to the front lines (prior to graduation!) to outpatient clinics to ICU’s and to Elmhurst Hospital. Many isolated themselves from their families - including newborns - in order to minimize the spread and keep them protected. They independently obtained and coordinated donations of thousands of pieces of PPE. Residents coordinated external donations of tablets to facilitate conversations between patients and families - in some cases, the last conversations.
