Twelve-year-old Miajul sorts through hazardous plastic waste without any protection, exposing himself to infections and diseases like #COVID19. Like many, he was pushed into child labour to support his family amidst the lockdown in Bangladesh. Child labour decreased by 94m since 2000, but that gain is now at risk with the pandemic. We can’t let that happen. To counter the threat of increased child labour, we need more comprehensive social protection, easier access to credit for poor households, the promotion of decent work for adults, measures to get children back into school, including the elimination of school fees, and more resources for labour inspections and law enforcement. #NoChildLabourDay © UNICEF/UNI335716
