I’ve been reading “Are Prisons Obsolete?” by the brilliant scholar/activist that is #AngelaDavis & a whole bunch of other works, articles and graphics of incredible grassroots organizers & earth angels that are doing important work right now. My mind is expanding, my heart is expanding.✨ 4. #DefundThePolice making a bit more sense to people who are open minded. Will post more resources about this moving forward because this conversation is imperative to actual change. ✨ 5-7. Pharaoh Hatshepsut and her legacy. She was erased from history books & we never hear her story. I was reminded of my time in Egypt where I was blessed with the opportunity to walk through her temples & learn her story. Another African Queen who did wonders for her people that men could only dream of accomplishing via sheer intelligence, grace, strategy, charm, peace & excellence. I like to remind myself of her always, remind myself how important it is to remember that women are powerful beyond measure, especially when they silence us, especially when they ask us to politely ask to be heard, especially when they ask us to behave. I remember her. I honor her. I remember & honor all of the ones whose names men have tried to erase✨ 8. Protests are still alive & well and accomplishing things. Although we still have a long way to go, this generation, the momentum of this moment, the conversations & unlearnings going on give me a hope I thought I’d lost✨ 9.
