I got one of those time stamp photo reminders on my phone and this image popped up. This was 2 years ago and my second time back in Vietnam. I’m incredibly proud to be Vietnamese. But growing up it was not so easy to embrace my heritage. In elementary school, kids made fun of my eyes. In middle school, I was told to ‘go back to where you came from’, and unfortunately, this racist tone continues to plague our community much harder when COVID hit. And the truth is... I went back to where I came from and it’s breathtaking. I just wanted to share this picture again, so you can see the beauty of my country. The land of magnificent mountains and seas, and of incredibly humbled and hardworking people. When we can all travel safely again, I encourage you to visit #Vietnam. I’ll be here to give you suggestions on places to go, to see, to eat, and to fall in love 💛
