Tear them down! There’s a reason we don’t have statues of Osama Bin Laden or an army base named Fort Hitler. Confederate statues honor racist enemies who fought against the United States and lost. The fact that we still have a holiday for Columbus is shameful. He was a genocidal conqueror. These statues were made to revere, quite literally placed up on a pedestal, to honor people who should be reviled and disgusted. Keep these monsters in the history books where they belong and tell the f*cking truth about them. They don’t belong in our public spaces.
