As we reflect on the true significance of Juneteenth, today we remember and celebrate the lives of trailblazing beauty entrepreneurs like Nobia A. Franklin. A Texas beautician, Franklin opened her first salon in 1910 and created the Franklin School of Beauty Culture in 1917 to train more Black women in her trade. Over a century later, the school remains a fixture in the Houston community as the oldest continuously operating licensed cosmetology school in Texas and continues to teach “The Franklin Way.” Photo Source: She Boom!
