It broke my heart hearing her on the phone every night fearing for her job and recalling the day's incessant badgerings and rumors. All I could do was reassure her that I was having my own experiences there and that she would not be punished for just doing her job. The reassurance wasn't enough, what she feared happened. . Although mentally bruised and physically exhausted from fighting for fairness and to be heard as black woman she turned that toxic energy into passion and drive. She ran from city offices to banks and back, called city officials relentlessly, and didn't stop till she found a rink and created her own school in 2months! Now she is a black woman with her own skating school in Canada! THE FIRST BLACK OWNED FIGURE SKATING SCHOOL IN CANADA! . The Brampton Hill Skating Academy (BHSA). .
