LINK IN MY BIO It’s the perfect day to talk about Confederate monuments coming down. I can’t say it any better than @hilarieburton did. She and I and many more of the #OTH family have signed the petition to remove Confederate monuments in Wilmington, NC a town I love dearly, AND to rename Hugh Mcrea Park. We’re calling on @cityofwilm Mayor @bill_saffo @billsaffo_for_mayor and we need your voice too! Especially in light of the Wilmington massacre of 1898, as if just the representation of supporting slavery isn’t enough, this is SO necessary to continue healing in our nation. One step at a time. Or a hundred steps all over at one time. We need to do this, own our mistakes and start a new path. In no way do i mean to say that black or brown people are living in “white people’s community”. That’s the opposite of what I mean.
