Presented as a birthday gift for Madame Youlan, the wife of his close friend Wang Hsin-heng, the painting depicts the Dongqian Lake in Ningbo, Zhejian, as a nod to the couple's heritage. The masterwork became a prominent installation in their living room and guests frequently took pictures with the painting.⠀
