First of all I would like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to do what I love. I am grateful for my parents who instilled in me that giving to others is more important than receiving. Being mentioned in the same sentence with Muhammad Ali is an an honor in itself. Winning this award ranks up with all of my baseball accomplishments throughout my career. I am thankful for the platform that playing Major League Baseball has afforded me. I am grateful that I am able to give back and also be a voice for those who don't have one. My Boomstick23 Foundation focuses on education and sports which are equalizers in our society. If you can help, why not?
En primer lugar, agradezco a Dios por darme la oportunidad de hacer lo que amo.
También le doy las gracias a mis padres que me enseñaron que dar a los demás es mejor que recibir. Ser mencionado en la misma oración junto a una leyenda como Muhammad Ali, ya es suficiente honor y me siento muy feliz de ser una voz para los desamparados.
Ganar este premio no hubiera sido posible sin la plataforma de jugar en las Grandes Ligas.
